The paintings in the exhibition draw on the visual cues of science fiction, with empty scenes and absent figures that recall the artificial worlds of 1980s cinema. Technology, anxiety and imagined futures are rendered through saturated colour, humour and spectacle, giving the paintings an uncanny mix of optimism and dread about what lies ahead.
