Matthew Galloway: Watch History

The artist speaks fragments of screen time and the aesthetics of digital distraction.

Filmed on site at Sumer, this artist-led walkthrough documents Matthew Galloway’s exhibition Watch History, an installation composed of more than seventy replica smartphones engraved with subtitles captured from a year of streaming.

Sprawled across modular Camaleonda sofas (designed in 1970 by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia), the works sit at the intersection of luxury design and everyday screen addiction. Detached from their original narratives, the fragments of text point to habits of watching, scrolling, and forgetting — inviting viewers to consider how attention, technology, and desire circulate in contemporary life.
